Discreet Oil Sampling

Utilizing PRS’s collaboration with University of Southern Mississippi (USM) as the core element, a proposal to the Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative’s (GoMRI) Dr. Richard Peterson of Carolina Coastal University (CCU) was successful in winning funding to use the ROV Odysseus aboard the USM R/V Point Sur. The collection of discreet oil samples from a natural seep at a depth of over 1100 meters in the Gulf of Mexico (GC 600) took place on two separate cruises. The Odysseus, utilizing a specialized oil sampler developed by CCU, MPH Engineering and PRS, successful collected the required quantities of oil for each cruise. Funding for this project was provided by GOMRI.
